Add a New Policy

A New Policy should not be added before it has been gone through the full approval process. The policy is first requested here.

In the case of Amendments to policy, should the amendment be approved, the original policy is not deleted. Rather the original policy is linked to the new policy that reflects the amendment and the new policy is linked to the original. This keeps a record of changes throughout the lifetime of a policy.

The process for accepting an amendment as a new policy is:

  • Open this form to create a new policy.
  • In another window (tab) open the amendment you wish to action.
  • Copy the relevant details from the amendment to the new policy.
  • Ensure you complete the field "Original Policy" on the new policy.
  • Save the new policy
  • The new policy internal ID can be seen in the URL - it will be P0nnn for example. Add this internal ID to the amendment in the field "New Policy" to link it to the new policy.
  • Mark the amendment as "Actioned and save changes.
Note: A new Policy Information Form will automatically be created, but will not include any benefits, issues or risks that had been added to the orginal PIF. See this page if you need instructions on how to move PIF data to the new policy.
